Maureen - I don't think anyone recognizes the stress that we heart surgery patients impose on our caregivers. You should give yourself a pat on the back. As far as the situation you described with your husband, I can only speculate what might be happening, so you can take my advice for what it's worth. My recovery was fairly easy, but I did experience shortness of breath and it's very frightening. In addition, I suspect that your husband anticipated he would be feeling better by two-months post op. His reaction to your input is likely nothing more than misplaced anger and frustration. To put it simply, he's "sick of feeling sick." Cardiac rehab will allow him to interact with other heart patients and allow him to gain some perspective of what recovery is like. I think you'll see a big change once he gets a few sessions under his belt. Best of luck - he's lucky to have a wife who cares as much as you do!
