To each of the incredibly kind people who have taken the time to share some of their own experience in traveling down this path toward valve surgery, thank you. My husband Jeff, the patient, and I are still figuring it all out.
We\'ve started to put together a timeline about what needs to happen medically and on all other fronts before his surgery, which looks like it will be sometime in October.
The angiogram he\'ll have to have before the surgery --- will he be able to go to work the next day? Should he plan on a day off before or after? I\'m told the \"shelf life\" of results of the angiogram and other tests he\'ll have to have that day is about 30 days -- meaning, I think, that surgery will need to happen within 30 days of receiving those test results.
Can any of you valve surgery veterans confirm any of this based on your own experince? THANK YOU.
My healthy, fit, 57 year old husband Jeff was just diagnosed with aortic stenosis, with a recommendation for valve replacement within six months. We\'re still reeling from the news, but grateful to have found this online community of people who\'ve been there. Yes it\'s Jeff\'s diagnosis, not mine, to be clear -- but I\'m the journal-keeper in the family
