I had mitral valve repair 4 months ago. I feel 95% back to my normal self in most ways. My overall experience at Sequoia was amazing. My question is for anyone that has had a below breast incision. (Thoracotomy) Do you have short pains at the chest site? They usually happen at end of day and possibly when I have stretched in yoga . How long after surgery did you continue to have pain in the breast/chest area?

Susan Lynn LaRene - I had numbness, pins and needles, and intermittent mild tenderness for more than a year. Your surgeon, like mine, may have frozen your nerves during your procedure to minimize postoperative pain, but eventually, those nerves do regenerate and there are sensations associated with them. Hang in there - it takes awhile to fully recover. You'll get there. ❤
