I am 31. I had my bicuspid aortic valve replaced when I was 26 because it got severely infected and regurgitant. I had it replaced with a Medtronic freestyle porcine valve as well as my entire root. Less than 5 years later, I got a rare endocarditis from a gram negative HACEK cardiobacterium. I need all of the bioprosthetic tissue replaced again. I have gone back and forth trying to decide which valve I want. I don't want to go through heart surgery over and over, but I also don't want to be on coumadin and the life long risks and complications associated with mechanical valves and anticoagulation. My cardio mentioned there was some surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic who have a Magna mechanical valve that does not require anticoagulation. I can't find any information on this valve? Does anyone have any advice for me and my situation? From what doctors tell me, I am a rare case...
