Hi Everyone. I thank Adam for having this site. I haven't written in a while due to many things, but here I am now. I had heart valve surgery in June 2016. I have been back at work - full-time since August. I am about to finish cardiac rehab. I am in and out of the program due to fatigue after work. My cardiologist reduced my meds because I was doing well – now high blood pressure is back, so I’m back on higher doses. My question is this – does anyone out there have shortness of breath 8 months after severe aorta stenosis and a slight enlarge left ventricle? I didn’t realize I had this issue until this morning when a friend pointed this out to me while getting coffee (decaf for me). I will see my cardiologist next week – but I know I will hear ‘LOSE WEIGHT’ which I find very difficult right now. Any thoughts. Many thanks.

Joshua Wright I have shortness of breath now, 7 months post aortic valve replacement. My cardiologists aren't sure why, but they started taking me off some of the other meds. Going up one flight of stairs I get out of breath and feel like I have to walk it out for a couple blocks. I even exercise regularly at the gym, but stairs and similar activities just make me really out of breath. Before taking me off of metoprolol last week, I used to get out of breath just talking though -- so that has improved.

Rita Savelis Stairs still make me short of breath, 2 yrs after surgery. I think it may be due to my lungs (and not my heart) - damage/fibrosis caused by multiple pleural effusions after OHS.
Betablockers can definitely make you tired. I felt so much better once I stopped them (a year after OHS).
