Susan Lynn Jerry - Hope one of our heart warriors with TAVR experience replies. From what I've read on this site, most people have had overnight hospital stays and pretty short recoveries. Since the TAVR procedure doesn't involve bypass or a sternum cut/chest incision, lots of the common problems of OHS are avoided. Be sure the surgeon uses a large valve so a future valve-in-valve procedure can be performed if necessary. Also, I think the valves used for TAVR are bio, so you may not need blood thinners. That's definitely a question for your surgeon. Best of luck to you!

DeLois Tweedy Jerry, I had a TAVR in June 2020 to replace my aorta valve. Procedure went through the groin. They kept me 2 nights because I had other issues going on, kept me one night extra I think just for observation. I had a bioprosthetic valve (bovine)( hope it lasts for a good while). I will turn 68 Easter Sunday. I have been on Eliquis since, but I have so many other heart/valve issues we are watching, possibly doing clinical trial for mitral valve replacement. Recovery was not bad at all, just tired and groin area was tender/sore initially. Let us know how it goes. I will try to answer any other questions you have if I can.
