It is almost 17 years since my first mitral valve repair and 14 since the re-repair. I just read the article about re-repairs and thought I would post an update. Still no problems to report. Everything is still working fine. My cardiologist has pushed my visits out to 9 months from 6 so it must be okay. I had been going every 6 months for years. I started doing spin(indoor cycling) class 3 times a week about a year ago(with doctors approval). Everything you hear about spin is true... brutal but great work out. Not bad for an old guy I guess. I really enjoy reading about everyones experiences and I'm glad to see that so many advances are being made in the surgical procedures. I accidentally deleted this so.... It's been 15 years since my first mitral valve repair surgery and 12 years since the second one. The repair is holding up good. Just a little leakage at my last echo. My cardiologist said it's nothing to worry about so I'm not going too.... The only heart medication I take is toporol XL and it is for the A-fib I experience from time to time... Still hanging in there...
