Marie Myers I also had dozens of auras daily after open AVR and 2 aneurysm repairs. They gradually subsided after a few months. What is interesting is my doctors don’t seem to know much about it, but it is a very common complaint on this website. Maybe because no treatment is needed??

Thomas Brusstar I definitely had them after my open heart mitral repair. Usually after exercise. Some people said a hydrating mineral supplement to water would help, but I’m not sure whether it did. They are disconcerting, but mine pass in about ten minutes and are not usually followed by a headache. Mine got less frequent with time, from maybe every day to once a week, now 4 years later maybe just once every 90 days.
Jane Walker Things seem to be settling down—no auras yesterday!! Progress!

Expect to be exhausted after the surgery; walking will be a challenge, but you will be amazed at how much better you feel after the first 3 days.

Marie Myers A good friend had TAVR around age 98 . It relieved all her symptoms, and she lived to celebrate her 100th birthday plus! It is a life saving procedure, which is now available to younger, healthier people. It is almost always anxiety-provoking to have any medical procedure, but be thankful that it is available! Wishing you an easy recovery!
