I had a mitral and aortic valve repair in 2016. I feel great and am thankful to God for this. My doctor gave the clear to workout but I'd like to do weights. It seems as if there's a reluctancy with my cardiologist with this and he says it's ok to do as long as I don't go to hard. When I asked what's "too hard", he said anything that makes you "grunt". Thats so vague. I'm trying to see if there's anyone who has something more definitive. Please let me know. Thanks a lot.

Sean Coast Pre-surgery now still, my last trip to the gym (yes, my cardiologist told me not to work out) my face turned purple on one side and ashen on the other. Today is supposed to be gym day but I'm skipping, no more energy left to work out and I don't want to repeat the horrible feeling of nausea and the warm blood rush and tingle I felt in the afore-mentioned incident. Long story short, in the future, if I have one, if my Dr. tells me not to go to the gym, I'm not going.
