After my visit last year, my echo showed still moderate regurgitation, but my doctor said my aorta had now dilated to 3.9 cm, so I have to be tested every year. I know this happens with people like me with bicuspid aortic valves. At first I got depressed. Hearing about Alan Thicke and Bill Paxton doesn't help. But I decided I'm going to do everything I can to avoid a third heart surgery. I lost ten pounds, am keeping my blood pressure low, and exercising every day... moderately of course. Next visit is coming this summer and is starting to be on my mind. Watchful waiting is hard. But I know it could be years like this.... or maybe forever. Hopefully....

Cathleen Weed The best thing you can do is exactly what you're doing. Exercise regularly and eat a heart healthy diet because nutrition is an important part of physical fitness. The stronger you are when you go in for surgery eventually, the better your results will be long term. The goal should be to be in the best shape you've ever been in when you are told that it's time to replace that valve. Take good care of yourself and enjoy your life ❤️❤️ xo
