I am UK based. I
had an aortic tissue valve replacement in 2006 and I need it replacing in the
next few months. I am 55 years old. I have been told that there are three
options
The Ross procedure
Artificial Valve
A repeat of the tissue valve replacement.
I was also told
that I would most probably have my aortic root replaced at the same time as it
is 5 centimetres. The consultant said he wouldn’t advice option three because
of my age as I would need it repeating and at the age I would need it repeating
would mean an increase risk.
I wanted some
information on the pros and cons of the three options especially the Ross
Procedure as in 2006 there was no mention of this.
I also wondered if anyone knew how to find a UK based Ross Procedure expert.

Timothy Andre Hi Christian, I am a Ross Procedure patient and am very happy with the choice I made. My recovery has gone well, not without ups and downs but overall I'm pleased with the outcome. There is a lot of information about the Ross Procedure here on the HVS website. If you look up at the toolbar you can find the "Learning Center" and scroll down on the left side you will see many topics. Clicking on any of those links will direct you to many informative videos. Use this website as a resource to educate yourself so you can make the right choice that fits your needs. Also, therossprocedure.org is a great resource for information. If you have any questions regarding first hand experience with the Ross I will do my best to answer those for you. Good luck and stay in touch with us.
