i had valve replacement surgery with a bovine valve 3 1/2 years ago and just had an echocardiogram. My peak velocity was 3.95 and mean gradient was 34. My cardiologist indicated we can wait for now as I have no symptoms but this could be the signs for severe aortic valve stenosis. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I am starting day 7 of my recovery from aortic valve replacement. I am at New York Weill Cornell hospital. I am both excited because I am scheduled to go home and nervous. I can't wait to get back in my home to heal but nervous that there will be less support wish me luck

Emily Rowley Like you, I felt happy to go home, have a lovely home cooked meal+hot showers but sad at the same to leave a place that was basically my home for two weeks. 🏠 Do you have people at your home to look after you and what type of support? I hope you have a pleasant trip home-take care and just go slowly. 😊

Tracy Simmons I understand and felt the same way. Leaving an environment where you are monitored 24/7, but being home has its advantages too, like uninterrupted sleep (if possible), showers in your own home and your loved ones. Best of luck and continued prayers for us all.

Emily Rowley So true esp not getting woken up 6am by Nurses and people (vampires they were referred to) to take bloods. I had showers in Hospital but some reason I felt so much cleaner having a long warm shower at home+no Hospital smell which turned me off food.

charles silver I am now on day 23 post surgery and have been home 2 weeks and 2 days. It has been great being home as I eat better food, sleep better and am not having to wake up at 5am to take pills. I am grateful for the care I got in the hospital but happy to be home. My recovery is progressing as I can walk a few miles every day. The first few days home I couldn't even get around the block. My energy level is getting better although I still feel the incision when I walk and sleep. I am looking forward to resuming more activities in the next few weeks. I visit the surgeon next week and will see what my time table is. I can't wait to get back to where I was but I know it will take some time.
