I had my mitral valve repaired with the minimally invasive procedure about a month ago. I feel fine, but the area around the incision is still sore when I move. I'm trying to get an idea of how long that will last. Any ideas out there?

Susan Lynn Bill - I had a side entry minimally invasive mitral valve repair, however, the surgeon froze all the nerves in the area of the incisions. I'm not sure if you had something similar, but I initially had numbness, then pins and needles, and occasional momentary surges of pain for a year. I think soreness at a month is completely normal. If you feel like it's getting worse, then you might want to put a call into your surgeon. Otherwise, you should see steady improvement. Best of luck!
