I had a mitral valve repair on 10/16/23 via a mini thoracotomy. Having a tough time sleeping at night. Sleeping on a wedge but back pain still wakes me up. Any tips from those who have been thru this surgery and recovery? Thanks!

Deena Z Super common. And annoying, I know. Try using pillows that that someone will gently place under the sides of your body to ever so slightly angle your back to one side, and then later do the other side. It helps a bit. Some folks say laying on a reclining chair helps too. I didn't find so, but everyone is different. If all else fails, Tylenol is your best friend, will decrease pain and put you to sleep.
