I had TAVR this past August & was released from that hospital & re-admitted two days after the operation, to another hospital for memory loss. Did anyone else have a similar experience or even have heard of a similar experience? My long term memory was never effected & is excellent, but my short term memory is still not all the way back. I have anxiety & slight depression because of that & am on medication for it. The neurologist in the second hospital advised that I get neuropsychological testing, which I did & I am in the process of completing follow up. Any advise would be very appreciated .

Yumiko Ishida I have had neurological setbacks each time after a procedure involving sedation or anesthesia. Valve replacement surgery was the worst, because it was the longest. I suggest you request physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy. I didn’t understand why I needed physical and occupational therapy at the time, but they were all very helpful. My main problem was aphasia, so I had speech therapy twice. A lot of the exercises I did in speech therapy was for improving short term memory. Hope that helps? If you are interested I could go into more detail.
