About Me

I was diagnosed with aortic stenosis and a bicuspid aortic valve in June of 2016 by accident. I had known about my heart murmur since my thirties but had no issues and doctors told me it was benign. No doctor until 2016, ever mentioned a bicuspid valve issue. My bicuspid valve was likely a birth defect. I have been able to lead a normal life for the past 7 years and going to my cardiologist every June for a check up. Earlier this year, I started feeling different with chest pressure and shortness of breath. In February, I noticed arm and neck pain during my daily walks. After checking myself into the Mayo clinic, the doctors determined my condition had deteriorated and that I needed surgery in the next few weeks.
