About Me (In My Own Words)
I have just been diagnosed with Aortic Valve Stenosis within the last month. I have been having heart palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue for a long time and I thought I was just out of shape. It happens when I get out of the bath or shower and I attributed that to the quick change in temperature. Walking up the stairs with laundry causes my heart to be fast and HARD. Bending over to tie my shoes or to pick something up- same thing.. Each time it happens I get so tired and feel like I could sleep for HOURS. I reached out to my birth father and it turns out his side of the family has an awful cardiac history- he himself has had high blood pressure and he just had a mitral valve clip put in last fall. He has 2 siblings who died from heart attacks and other issues with cousins. I am not overweight (5 feet tall/ 122 lbs- I did have LapBand surgery 6 years ago and lost 86 lbs) I really have been healthy since my weight loss surgery. I don't take any meds outside of OTC Aleve and I have a prescription for migraine meds that I take as needed. I cannot get in to see the cardiologist until 3/21. I have been trying to educate myself and find out as much info as I can and everything I have read is telling me that surgery is really the only option and I am terrified.. I have been trying to talk to my friends and family about it but I feel like they are just sort of taking it all with a grain of salt. On one hand I know I shouldn't read too much into things until I see the cardiologist but on the other hand it seems like I would not be showing the symptoms I am showing if it wasn't serious. I am just scared and frustrated and I am having a hard time waiting.. Am I crazy and over-analyzing?
