About Me (In My Own Words)
My GP detected a pansystolic murmur in November last year and referered me to my local Cardiology Dept. Lots of tests later I end up having a TOE which confirmed severe mitral regurgitation secondary to mitral valve posterior leaflet prolapse. Now being worked up for MV repair +/- CABG (dependent on angiogram). Spoke with a surgeon who said it was a routine job. I said maybe for you. I am terrified to be honest.
Update: So the angiogram was clear - no cabg! - Yay. Finally got a settled date of 1st December for MVR only. Cancelled at last minute (I'd been all ready to go down to theatre since 07.00 that morning) due no availability of ICU beds for after. Surgeon furious. I said "you'd better calm down before you even think about cutting me open" Rescheduled for Friday afternoon. Cancelled again for same reason so sent home and we'll try again for the 9th. This is mentally very taxing.
