Thomas Brusstar I had a mitral repair in 2018. Like yours, mine was the posterior leaflet that was prolapsed. Actually some of my little “chordae” (the strings that hold the valve in place) had ruptured, so my valve was failing badly (they call it “flail” because the leaflets are flailing around in the breeze down there). So mine was worse than most. I went in Tuesday morning and was home for dinner Friday afternoon. You’re right it’s hard to consider it routine, but in a health center that does lots of repairs, it is very low risk. You will be empowered by how quickly you heal.
