About Me (In My Own Words)
I am a 58 year old female whose bicuspid aortic valve was found by ACCIDENT in 2010 by a doctor right out of med school during a shoulder surgery pre-physical. What a stroke of luck! Had this sharp lady doctor not heard my defective valve through her stethoscope, I would have never known it existed until the day it gave out...because, like Adam, I had NO SYMPTOMS.
I had OHS (SAVR) in June, 2010....it is now Jan. 2026. Have had 15 1/2 GREAT years on this pig valve. But the time is approaching for replacement, and I am looking for ALL the options that may (or may not) be available to me to AVOID OHS.
I am grateful to you who have signed up on this site to take this journey with me. You have no idea how your support helps manage my considerable anxiety and fear of what's next. Thank you all!
