About Me (In My Own Words)
I have not yet choosen a hospital, or a surgeon. Neither have I been able to decide whether to go for a right-sided robotic surgery, or a traditional sternotomy.
This is because I am getting conflicting (not getting a clear answer) as to which of the approaches best fixes my LAA - right-sided robotic, or the sternotomy surgery approach?
So far I understand that the former takes the endocardial approach to fixing the LAA, while the latter takes the epicardial approach. The epicardial fix having better efficacy.
I have read that the LAA is difficult to access from the outside (epicardially) while performing a right-sided robotic surgery, due to anatomy.
Can anyone help educate me on this?
