About Me (In My Own Words)
My name is Robin Riha-Lopez. I had a heart murmur as a child. I was diagnosed at a young age with MVP, which eventually turned into MVP, with regurgitation. My heart was enlarged and the Doctors wanted to wait until I was as old as possible before having my heart surgery. I was 58 years young at the time of my surgery. My MVP with regurgitation became severe in 2022 and I required surgery ASAP. My Surgeon is wonderful! He left my old Mitral Valve to create a solid foundation. Then, he rebuilt me a new Mitral Valve using synthetic cow tissue. I slept for 3 days after the surgery. I fought my way back for a second chance at life💕. God still has a lot for me to do with my life💕! I am thankful and blessed😇! I express my gratitude to my Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses, Cardiac Rehabilitation, family, friends and everyone that took care of me during my stay in the hospital.
In my Journal I posted information and questions pertaining to my next steps as I continue my journey to heal and keep my heart healthy. My first step is trying to find solutions for borderline hf. I was recently told by a Cardiologist I have borderline heart failure. I am retaining some fluid. I took Lasix for a week. I try to drink 56-64 ounces of fluid daily. I was put on Entresto, which I could not tolerate. I stopped the medicine. My BP and weight are low; I know my BP and weight will improve. No worries. I am researching other alternatives to create and sustain a healthy heart ♥️. I continue to keep my faith strong and have a positive attitude 🙏🙏. Thank you for your kindness and letting me post My Valve Story. Life is precious and I and blessed everyday I see another beautiful day💕🙏.
