About Me (In My Own Words)
Loud mitral murmur noted in 2018. Serial echos, a TEE and the usual stuff for the w/u revealed regurgitation secondary to prolapse and degeneration of the valve. Followed for 6 years and annual echo now showed it was time to consider surgery. Much research led me to Cleveland Clinic and Dr. Malas. Naturally, I hoped for a repair, but after 3 failed attempts at a repair, Dr. Malas with Dr. Gillinov decided a porcine valve was needed. After 7 hrs of surgery and another 13 to wake up and get the ET tube out, my long day was over. Six days were spent in the hospital. Now, I’m just trying to recover.
