Diagnosed with heart murmur and leaky valve in my early 20's, and knew that it would need to be addressed at some point in my life. Mild symptoms such as shortness of breath, getting winded climbing stairs and mild jaw pain with physical exertion let me know to contact my physician. Stress test and catherization confirmed that my valve was not working properly, and also showed the aortic aneurysm. Surgery was prescribed and performed without major problems at St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel, IN on 01/10/14.
