I am a 51 year old mom and hi tech professional in the bay area of northern CA. I was diagnosed with mitral regurgitation 10 years ago. I have moderate to severe MR, and a severely enlarged left atrium. I have some symptoms like reduced exercise tolerance and palpitations. I received conflicting advise about surgery timing last year, and decided not to have surgery. But in the last month, everyone agrees that the symptoms and anxiety is debilitating for me and therefore there is no reason to wait, since I am a surgical candidate. So we are looking at June 2018. This was a long time coming, but now that it's here, my anxiety so bad that I feel I might bail. Reading about others who have and are going through this gives me courage. Thank you!
