About Me (In My Own Words)
On the 31/01/2022 I went to the ER with pains across my chest - which I thought was a muscle injury from the Gym, tests were run and my Cardiac markers were very high, the cardiologist seen me the next morning and did an echo on the heart to which he found that my heart was working only on one artery. I was sent for an angiogram and unfortunately a stent was not a viable option , and my bypass was scheduled on the 02/02/2022. Being a diabetic I was at higher risk , however my surgery went well and the road to recovery began. Recovery from CABG was the most difficult period of my life but I overcame and pushed through. Given my age 33 years - recovery was quicker than the norm. Heart disease is predominant on my mothers side of the family, my mom also having succumbed to heart failure in 2020, I always knew I would end up with a heart condition but never expected it at such a young age, no matter how much I could have gymed, ate right etc - I would not have been able to escape this = But I am grateful to my Cardiologist and my Cardiothoracic Surgeon and the team of amazing Dr's that gave me a second chance , everyday is cherished much more.
