10 Years ago I started taking the drug known as phen phen. I took this drug for a year and a half...I had an echo, and was only diagnosed at 30% damage which is mild...Most do not progress. It has been 8 yrs since my last echo and I decided to get a new echo after the advice from a family friend that is cardio surgeon...To my surprise it came back very abnormal and we went on to different types of testing from there...We thought we would be able to repair the valve, but after the angiogram done last week they said it was from a 1 to 10 I was a 10. I am having surgury on Thursday february 18th 2010, to have a mechanical valve put in. I am 39 years old with three teenage girls and I am scared to death...I know I will do fine because god is in my surgeons hands...But the fear is hard to get out of your mind and you run around getting things ready just in case you are one of the one that doesnt make it....Scary Stuff...
