About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 56 yrs. old and was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse as a child and have now progressed to moderate mitral regurgitation . I am asymptomatic, no SOB. My cardiologist told me that it is time for a repair. He has been following me for 10 years. He thought I'd have it at age 50 but I lasted a few more years(I kept reminding him every time I would see him! ). He feels it will be a repair but I will have to have a sternal incision/operation, because I am a small build. I am very happy to have found this web site for support. Very scary to know that in a few months I'll have this done. I know it has to be done for me to keep "ticking" but I still am not looking forward to this. Much rather be doing something else.I am a new grandmother, and have three children in their 20's.
