Send L a NoteAbout Me
I was dx. with Aortic valve Stenosis in January 15, 2018, After a stent in the hospital for pneumonia, it was discovered ..Needless to say I was shocked... I thought I was a reasonably healthy person for 72 years, except for the fatigue and shortness of breath. I just chalked it up to getting older. I was referred to a cardiologist, and lots of tests followed. A lot of heart medications were prescribed. Next came the Thoracic Surgeon appointment, which scared me to death...He seemed too anxious, after all I was feeling ok and was functional with all of my daily activities, so I took my meds and told him I needed to think about it, and get things in order. It's been a year now, the thoracic surgeon I had been seeing moved back to Texas. I have a new Thoracic surgeon. On my first visit to see him, he emphasized the importance of getting the AVR done. "Your heart isn't getting any stronger, and you will eventually have heart failure because your heart is having to work harder just to
supply enough blood to your body, and you ain't getting any younger.." I finally understood, it finally sunk in. I needed to have this heart surgery..."Let's do it as soon as possible"..They sent me to the lab for my complete blood work-up, and scheduled me for surgery on Feb. 15, 2019...
