About Me (In My Own Words)
So grateful to have found this site. After a few strange visual disturbances, my ophthalmologist insisted I see a cardiologist. What a blessing in disguise. An echo determined I have mitral valve prolapse with severe regurgitation. Within the last couple years, I began to feel winded after exercise. I chalked it up to getting older and being out of shape. All my runner friends told me "just push through it, you'll get there!" Yet I never did! Had my doctor not insisted I go for further testing, I would have continued to ignore it. Like most of us, I never dreamed I would need cardiac surgery. I am scared, nervous, anxious and yet excited to feel better all at the same time. I am encouraged and inspired by all your stories and support for each other here!
