About Me (In My Own Words)
I was matched with a new primary physician in 2018 who asked if I knew I had a heart murmur. I replied "no." I apparently had one for quite some time and never recall anyone mentioning it, even though I've received regular checkups for the first 48 years of my life. I had a follow up eco which revealed mild/moderate AS. My primary and I agreed to monitor it...fast forward 5 years, my phyisician brought it up again and I had a follow up eco done last week (February 2023). It seems my mild/moderate AS is not my cardiologist's opinion is now not just severe but "critical" with a .69 cm2 opening and 4.9 velocity. I have been largely asymptomatic--having ridden 3 hours on my Zwift trainer just last week. I did a Zwift virtual race with 40 minutes of sustained cardio (145-163bpm) and still no symptoms. Since my recent diagnosis, I have been paying a little more attention and I may have some slight heaviness in the chest but still can't tell if that's the extra anxiety.
