About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2010 attributed to chemotherapy and radiation from a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Disease (lymphoma) in 1991 and recurrent in 1994 after the birth of my daughter. I was taking medication for my cardiomyopathy and by all accounts was considered normal. U was living a life of no restrictions l. I had two hospitalizations with COVID in 2020 and 2021. My heart was not effected; however, I feel like I never really got back to normal after COVID. I began having more heart failure episodes, was always tired and eventually had great difficulty breathing. Just walking from the parking lot into work was laboring. These issues were not addressed properly by my cardiologist so I saw a new cardiologist and he was able to diagnose severe cardiovascular disease. Additionally, my heart muscle has weakened and my mitral valve has been upgraded to severe regurgitation. I am 55 and scheduled for triple bypass surgery with mitral valve replacement on 12/14/22.
