About Me (In My Own Words)
Diagnosed after two episodes of passing out during intense exercise, boxing and weight training.
SAVR went well and I recovered quickly. I was 56 years old.
Fast forward to 2016. My bovine valve failed and required another SAVR. Complications made this surgery far more difficult. I was hospitalized for a month (including cardiac rehab.) Second surgery was done at Mass General in Boston. Dr. Sundt and his amazing staff saved my life.
Fast forward again to 2025. I’m having symptoms of Aortic Stenosis and waiting for an echo to make the diagnosis. If necessary, this will be my third AVR ! I’m leaning toward TAVR but I cross that bridge when I get to it.
