About Me (In My Own Words)
I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve and knew it always needed to be checked out. I knew there was some regurgitation, but I never had any symptoms so I thought I was perfectly fine at my age. It would be something to worry about when I was beyond retirement. But I saw my cardiologist in the summer of 2025 and was told my heart had become worse with severe regurgitation and the beginning of dilation. They recommended surgery in the near future, advising to move forward with it while I was young. I definitely didn’t expect to have to have valve replacement by the age of 37. But here I am. But while it is frightening, I know I have a really supportive group of friends and family. And in the end, this will for the better.
