About Me (In My Own Words)
After AVR my goal is to get back on my bike. I was diagnosed with severe AS and bicuspid aortic valve in December 2021. I initially had a hard time accepting that I will need a new valve and open heart surgery. I am 55 an bike over 8000 miles a year. I’m healthy and in good shape. How can I have this problem? I have a trip to Mallorca Spain to bike for 8 days in April. Didn’t want to cancel the trip. I had not had symptoms or at least I didn’t recognize the symptoms. After a couple of months in Feb my condition had worsened significantly and started recognizing the symptoms so had to cancel the trip and had surgery in March. I am now signed up for this event for 2023 and will be back on my bike very soon.
