About Me (In My Own Words)
I found out in my 30's that i had BAV and that i would need to have surgery on this someday. did not think that it would be when i was 44. It was just a fluke that it was caught now as i am asymptomatic. I spent the last 5 months healing from knee surgery (skiing accident Torn ACL). When i returned to work i was sent to see the doctor for a physical, they did an EKG and said that it was abnormal and that they would like me to go to the heart clinic. i didn't think anything of it since i knew that with my BAV it will show up this way ocasionally. Well i went to see the Cardiologist and she set me up for some more tests - Echo and MRI. The echo showed that my valve was at 8mm vs 1cm it was a year earlier. My heart is also slightly enlarge i guess from trying to pump the blood through the smaller opening. That brings me to today, as of right now i have my surgery scheduled for november 26th, 2010.
