About Me (In My Own Words)
I had a mitro valve repair in 1990. In 2016 I had a double bypass. My symptoms are primarily shortness of breath and difficulty walking for more than 1/2 block. I was tested to see if I was a good candidate for the mitro clip, but the TEE showed a perforation in my mitro valve which meant I couldn't have the clip because it would make the hole worse. I checked into registering for the APOLLO trial which is testing the new Intrepid mitro valve replacement by the less invasive TMVR method, but apparently because I had a repair years ago I don't qualify. Sadly this will be my third open heart surgery. I'm 78 years old and in good health except for my mitro valve.
