About Me (In My Own Words)
My name is Jamie and this was created for Carson, my son. He is 6 years old and was diagnosed with BAV April of 2015 after a heart murmur was heard at his 5 year check up. We were completely shocked when we discovered this diagnoses! We were told that he would need to have yearly echo's and only time would tell how things would go. The doctor said he may need to have his aortic valve replaced at some point, but that may not be until he is a middle aged man. At this point, no intervention is required. He has mild aortic regurgitation at this point as well as some aortic stenosis. He is a very stubborn, happy, silly, caring and awesome little boy who you would never know had an abnormality with his little heart. He has not yet seen the doctor for the second time since the diagnoses, and this information is still so new to us. I came across this website and was so relieved to find a place to share information and hear others stories who are dealing with the same thing as him. Hoping to learn from others about their experiences dealing with BAV!
