About Me (In My Own Words)
I inherited my heart issues from my father and my mom. Heart issues were on both sides. Mom died at 38, Dad had 3 bypasses and valve replacement in his 60's. When I was in my early forties I experienced valve issues and was placed on beta-blockers in an effort to control heart valve issues. The beta-blockers worked to a degree but left me feeling very sluggish. After many years I quit taking the beta-blockers and just learned to live with. This year after my 66 birthday and after visiting with family I decided something needed to be done as my quality of life was starting to suffer. My G.P. sent me to the Baylor Scott and White cardiology dept where I met with Dr. Lauglin(sp). He did several test and after the test recommended me for the robotics surgery to repair my faulty mitral valve. On Feb. 28, Dr Hafen and his team fixed me up. Dr. Hafen took care of my AV issues, repaired the holes around the valve and placed a Medtronic band around the valve. After 35 days the valve works like it is suppose to. Moreover, the AV issues are over and the swelling on my heart has been reduced. Furthermore, my heart is working at a much better efficiency. I can only say Thank You. From the cardiolgy department at Baylor Scott and White in Waco to Dr. Hafen and his team at the heart hospital in Plano to the rehab clinic in Waco, the care has been superb. Job well done, the team has changed my life forever. May God continue to bless your efforts.
