Multiple tests were done in preparation for the surgery, and since I had to drive a significant distance, they scheduled them one after the other on the day before the surgery. There is a hotel on the campus and we rented a room there so my wife could have a place to rest.

The surgery went very well, and my stay in the ICU was shorter than expected before discharge. I had the minimally invasive/robotic procedure and needed very little pain medicine while in the ICU and at home afterward (I have leftover pain meds).

The first few days home were a little foggy, but at about six weeks, I began cardiac rehabilitation. The first week was difficult, and I was easily fatigued. From the second week on, however, I noticed dramatic weekly improvement.

As for the staff, every single person we dealt with had an extremely pleasant demeanor and went out of their way to ensure my comfort and success.

I would recommend Dr. Hafen and his team to anyone needing this type of procedure."

"Dr. Hafen is an absolute stud of a surgeon. He robotically removed a benign tumor in my left atrial appendage. I was originally scheduled for open heart for the tumor and atrial valve repair.
