About Me (In My Own Words)
In 1999 I had open heart to repair an ASD. I was told to live my life I was fixed. April 11,2016 I drove myself to the ER. After not being able to walk five steps and looking like I was six months pregnant. Thinking it was an ulcer and gallbladder (what I was told weeks before at prompt care) imagine my surprise when the doctor said I was in heart failure. My inside was a mess. This was the first time I had heard Epsteins Anomoly. The right side of my heart was massive, my liver was damaged, AFib and Aflutter. I had lived with this for 16 years. I thought it was normal to feel your heart beat all kinds of different rhythms. And normal for me to have a heart rate of 120-138 while resting. The cardiologist who saw me said," no one in both of these hospitals can help you. I have read about this but have never met or heard it before." He said I made his night. They put me on warafin and many heart meds to keep my heart low and slow. He and my EP cardiologist both referred me to Mayo. I will go on September 22 for the EP study, Dr MCLeod to see if he can do ablation and if I will need a defibulator, at that time they will check artiries to see if I will need by-pass since my cholesterol is 350, and then a biopsy will be done of liver. What they find that day will decided if any, what else they will do with the ole heart while I am open and the valve being replaced with a pig. I am thankful when I awake. And I am thankful when I am able to say goodnight.
