About Me (In My Own Words)
I have just been diagnosed with a Bicuspid aortic valve three days ago at age 29! (July 14, 2017) I was completely shocked. I went to the doctor for a yearly physical and while she was listening to my heart she heard a murmur, being a good doctor she said she wanted to get it checked out just to be safe, I went in for an echo two days later, and found out that I had a bicuspid aortic valve, with mild aortic stenosis, 2.03 cm2, and a slightly dilated aorta as well. To say the least, I was and still am in complete shock. I am a healthy 29-year-old female, active and I eat really well. I couldn't believe that my whole life it went undetected. I am grateful that now I know but have been pretty depressed about it. My fiance and I would like to have children and now knowing this it really scares me. It has changed my perspective on a lot of things. I am just so happy I am only 2 hours away from the Cleveland clinic, and am living in the same city as the University of Michigan. I hope to hear other people stories so I can feel inspired and not loose hope. Im am very interested to hear how other women went through their pregnancies.
