It's a long story but you have to read it as it's very rare and chaotic!
I was diagnosed with VSD when I was a child and doctors told me that it closed spontaneously when I was 10 years old. Since the beginning of 2025, I was feeling fatigue and had splenomegaly and had 3 or 4 episodes of fever and the last episode lasted about 30 days.
First, I was diagnosed with pneumonia, typhoid fever and also depression which thought to be the reason of being fatigue all the time.
In the end of June 2025 I had a CT chest and it showed something at the aorta so I underwent transthoracic Echo that was normal and I felt anxious so I underwent it again with another doctor who told me there's a mass on the Aortic valve and I need to have trans oesophageal Echo and they give me an appointment after 2 weeks.
The TEE showed that there's a small VSD !!!!! it didn't closed spontaneously as doctors told me when I was a child and that small VSD caused aortic valve regurgitation and there are 2 calcium nodules on the Aortic valve but there's no infective endocarditis and my fever, splenomegaly and being fatigue is d.t another reasons.
I was on the 5th day of fever when I got that TEE and after 2 days I started feeling pain in my left calf muscle and the venous duplex was free and I had another CT chest which showed multiple pneumonic patches ( it was showers of emboli but they misdiagnosed it) so I started taking oral antibiotics for another 20 days but fever didn't go away, I underwent another TEE which surprisingly showed that there were no calcium nodules but INFECTIVE ENDOCARDITIS!!! and it complicated to aortic root abscess!! And I have to undergo surgery ASAP as the abscess was sending showers all over my body ( lung, spleen, both legs , kidneys )
I underwent a surgery with classic sternotomy scar to close the VSD, debridement of aortic root abscess and replacement of aortic valve with Resilia valve.
I got complete heart block as a complication from the surgery and implanted a permanent peacemaker after 3 weeks.
