I go to rehab a 7am before work, but I don't have to be at work until 9am (if I choose). Every situation is different.
I hope that you can get in as much rehab as you can.

Susan,
Great to hear you are recoverying so well. Isn't it amazing to look back to the holidays and our surgeries and see how far we have progressed. Modern medical techniques and the hand of God.
I too have enjoyed the cardio rehab. Mine does not include weights, but I do the hand pedal machine, recumbant bike and the treadmill. Also amazing to see my own advancements since the first sessions.
Got to visit and play with our 16 monyh old grand daughter. First time I could play with her. It was great. Sothankful I had the surgery done this winter.
Hang in there and as Adam says "keep on tickin!".
Note: my former director tried to give me the business about being out in the halls too much on my first week back. He had no idea that I had just returned from heart surgery. The next day he stopped me inthe hall and said "how's the heart ticking!". Kind of ironic.

Susan Muhly Yes, it is amazing to see how far we have progressed since surgery. I am so glad you are able to play with your grand daughter! Are you still doing cardio rehab now that you are back at work? Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to finish all 12 weeks of rehab. I anticipate going back to work in about 5 weeks if I am able.

So glad to hear you are doing so well. Keep up the good work. I'm so glad you are doing cardio rehab. It really helped me gain confidence in my exercising besides the usual walking. After 6 weeks of rehab I was back to working with my trainer and started basic swimming with board and flippers. Now 5 months out I am swimming breast stroke and crawl with ease. Take care.

Hi Susan,
Glad to hear you are feeling so well. I also have LBBB, and it is more annoying than anything else. It comes and goes and I can really feel it at times. Apparently, leaking mitral valves can cause the electrical signals in the ventricle to get disturbed. Sometimes it goes away and sometimes it does not. I started a low dose beta blocker and it got a lot better. Just thought I would pass that along.
God speed and God Bless,

Susan Muhly I read your journal and it sounds like you are doing very well. A lot of people told me I would notice a big improvement at 6 weeks post-op, and I did! You will feel better and better. All of the little improvements had a big impact on me. The doctor gave me the OK to walk my dog yesterday and I am thrilled. Before that I couldn't hold the leash because my dog pulls once in awhile. I hope you have many little improvements each day.

Susan,
Great progress. I definately noticed improvement each week starting at week 6. I'vebeen back to work for 2 weeks. 5 more weeks of cardio rehab to go. I am looking forward to seeing our 16 month old grand daughter next weekend. Just seeing her minutes before they took me to surgery, and then seeing her the furst week home was calming inpiration for the surgery. But all I could do was let her sit on my lap for a few minutes each day that week, to share pudding cups and bananas. But that was huge. Now I can hold her and play with her.

What a journey you have been on. Life changing, hasn't it been? We all have grown from it. We really have. When someone you love has to face such a prospect-you can't help but learn through you. Thanks for being so brave for us all, Sue!
We really miss you. John and I put in an application on a house in a neighborhood and John wistfully said, this neighborhood looks good..think about if Sue and Dennis lived here, how perfect it would be.
Can't wait until you guys visit. We will be back May 10, June 12th and then again July 11thish.
Lots of gentle hugs to you!

Susan Muhly I Put all the dates you will be in Oregon on my calendar. I am already looking forward to seeing you and John. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I am not so brave. I didn't have a choice, and wished I did. But now I am so happy to be on the other side of surgery and on the road to recovery.
Hugs to you too!.

Susan Muhly Hi Carol, Yes it is great to be on the other side of surgery! I can feel every heart beat. Are you saying that this will diminish in time? I hope so. I am doing well. I over did it a little yesterday and notice I am a bit tired today. But today feels like spring and I am getting out for my walks, which are getting longer every day.

Susan Muhly I was terrified of the breathing tube as well. I can tell you by the time I woke up the breathing tube was gone and I have absolutely no memory of it. I did notice the roof of my mouth had a different "texture". It felt like it had little ridges or waves in it. I assume this was from the breathing tube. It did not hurt at all and the "texture" only lasted for a day. My husband did see me with the breathing tube immediately after surgery. I, of course, was asleep and have no memory of it. I actually felt pretty good when I woke up and I thought they had not done the surgery for some reason! Good luck with surgery, if I can do it I know you can too!

I suspect that some of your kids shock was seeing their mom with all the tubes and wires, especially the neck wires.
Speaking of passing out, I did that at the pre-op testing. Good thing I was in a chair, cause I felt flush, told everyone and went lights out (twice) against the wall behind me. And then shared it over the phone with my office mates. They got a big kick out of that. Be interesting to see if they remember me sharing that 8 weeks ago.
