Sarah -- good luck tomorrow. I'll be praying for your surgery and recovery. I had a minimally invasive Aortic Valve Replacement on 10/6/21 and went home on 10/8/21. You can do this!

Hi Sarah ~ I imagine you have some butterflies about now. I know I certainly did. I too had a bicuspid aortic valve and I was most concerned about recovery. What shape would I be in after my open heart surgery? Well I'm here to say it's been five years. Not only did I not even need to be in ICU, but I was walking a mile after just two weeks. And I was 70 years old. All will be well, Margot

Hi Sarah, I received the OnX valve 4/1/21. No regrets! Warfarin is not a big deal, but you do have to be consistent in taking and follow your Anti-coag instruction. I now test my INR from home with an Acelis had held, takes 20 seconds. Your young and the mechanical valve is a great choice. All the Best to you and God Bless. Fear not!
