Hi Michele. As you can see, there are several Hodgkin’s survivors on this site, all with various heart issues. I had my radiation treatment in 1987. SAVR and triple bypass in March of this year. The surgery was long but without complications and I’ve recovered quickly. Pre-op anxiety is to be expected but risk of serious complications is so low . I’m glad they fixed me and I’m sure you will be too!

Rita Savelis Hi Michele, I had Hodgkin's at age 16 in1977. In 2015 at age 53 I had my aortic and mitral valves replaced with mechanical valves and my tricuspid valve reinforced. I also had a pacemaker implanted a few weeks later. I had been followed by a cardiologist for 6 years before that after a murmur had been heard by a GP. Recovery was long and I was exhausted like I have never been. But now 9 years have passed. Take care.

Hi Michele- I too had Hodgkins Lymphoma 3 months before I turned 22. That was in 1977, so fast forward to today, I'm now 69. I had a TAVR in June 2020 but still have many heart and lung issues stemming from the radiation treatments I received (as well as other late effect of radiation, but grateful to still be here). I'm glad you are able to get the procedures you need for your heart and pray all things go well. This site is very encouraging and the information from Dr. Douglas Johnston is spot on, echoing what my interventional cardiologist and advanced heart failure cardiologist has told me. Leslie Bakos Another Hodgekins survivor. I was 17 in 1986 and was lucky to have a heart shield. I am 3 weeks post op in the hospital and had to have fluid drained around the heart
