. It must be lovely living up in the mountains . You ‘ll be back home before you know it . You are allowed to be worried and apprehensive , but you are going to be okay .
We have been through the surgery and we are still here to tell the tale . This fabulous online community is here to listen and chat if you need to .

Good luck Max. We'll be anxious to hear from you on the recovery side. I'm still in the waiting phase and so ready to move on with my life. I know when the time comes my surgery will go fine. Hey Max - welcome to the Zipper club ! The surgery is certain,y daunting but I believe the waiting is just as daunting- in a different way -I remember being pushed down to the operating at Cleveland clinic - after knowing for 40 years I had a bicuspid valve that would need to be replaced someday- and that day was right then ! I asked the transport guy if any patients “chicken” out and had to be taken back to their room-his answer surprised me when he said -“you would be surprised- quite a few !” I have always contended that you have to be very brave and mentally strong to undergo open heart surgery. Remember they do thousands of these operations with great success and I am sure yours will go well - stay strong and reassure your family that you will be out soon will see them in just a few hours- they will suffer more than you for the first day -stress is a tough thing to handle.

Exactly the same with me. Born with bicuspid valve and over the years the doctors kept an eye on it. Never had any symptoms but last Feb was told that it time to think about getting it taken care of. Had surgery last November. Feeling great. Any questions feel free to ask.

Have always been active and am completely asymptomatic - am "nervous" about going in feeling fine.
