Thanks so much for your information. I'm thinking about robotic surgery, which I understand is not offered in Boston. I'm glad that your surgery was successful. I am dealing with a failed replacement valve, and I believe my options may be limited.

Susan Lynn Mary - Be sure to consider minimally-invasive mini-thoracotomy that Richard and I had. I was also adamant about having robotic surgery, but I understand it often requires more time on bypass and I didn't want that. As women, the scar can also be hidden in the right breast crease with the mini-t, if that is important to you. Ask your surgeon about it. Best of luck with your research.

I saw your post. I had minimally invasive mitral valve repair surgery 2 years ago at mass general in boston. My surgeon dr. Sergei melnitchauk was incredible. I have since recommended him to others i know and all had great success. I live in dartmouth mass so we are neighbors. I have no clue if what you have is in his wheelhouse or not but it is worth checking him out as he is fantastic. Hope this helps.

Kath Duggan The closest place that does robotic repairs , I believe, is Yale-New Haven. I was interested in that, but I am not sure they would accept my insurance. I opted for MGH and have an appointment with Dr. Melnitchouk ( thanks to Richard’s advice). Good luck
