Sorry to hear about the infection. Never had anything like it so can offer no input, but if you feel a little woozy and would like a ride to doctor visit - that I can help with. John and I aren't on the boat this weekend. we're top coating the driveway - oh, the joy of home ownership. Let me know if I can help in any way, Lee. , Patricia ( and John too)
I cannot add anything that the others have not. Having a nursing background, please let Dr office know asap. I am so sorry that you are having any issues as I know how discouraging setbacks become. Heads up and keep the faith you have all many that care and feel for you
Hi Aunt Lee
Unfortunately nausea is a common side effect of the antibiotic you are on. Try to eat crackers or a 1/4 sandwich before you take your pill and follow with some more crackers or the other 1/4 of sandwich. Heck eat anything to get something in your stomach before you take the medicine. Feeling weak also goes along with having an infection. Your normal body defenses have not returned just yet and any little "bug" so soon after surgery will make you fell tired and weak. This will resolve as time goes on and your body heals.
We wish you both the very best and a quick return to full health.
Love Barb and Brad Mason
I have not had an incision infection but I know several people have and hope they chime in. Does your doctor know about your nausea? Seems maybe they would consider changing the antibiotic or if you must remain on it are you taking it with food and plenty of water? I'm sorry for your setback but better days are coming. Chin up.
I am praying for your speedy recovery. It seems everyone (almost) has some hurdles to jump after this surgery. I am thinking it is so that we really appreciate our newly designed heart once it has healed. I wish you no more problems and soon, you will be completely well. Linda Stahl

What a relief but I am so sorry that this was been a complication but so greateful no bone involvement
Being a 3X veteran and other types of postop complications, infection was not one and I know from others it is always such a worry
Hang in there, prayers for you both
Hi Colleen and Lee
By now antibiotics (maybe IV) are doing the work of clearing up that wound infection. Almost all of us have had a setback or two, glad you caught this one early. Prayers for healing from FL.
Thanks for the update - I spoke to Lucy tonight who had spoken to Lee on phone and knew she was going to hospital. Now at least have some idea what's going on.
Please keep us posted- when admited; if can get calls etc.
Pat & Jack
Tell Lee I had the same problem. Got an infection and my incision opened up. Just got to be patient. Time and prayer are the great healers.
She was doing so well. Just a minor setback.
My love to you both.
Hi Lee. Thanks for the note. The heat really does me in too which I suspect has been at least partly due to a lack of oxygen. I wonder if they need to remove some fluid for you too? As Fran mentions, it's an outpatient procedure & not that bad. I could certainly breathe better afterward. Glad you're working on your balance. Stay on track with your recovery & I'll try to do the same! Joy
Hi Colleen and Lee
Haven't seen an update and wonder what was found. I had breathlessness a few weeks after valve surgery in March and ended up having 1/2 gallon of fluid removed on one side and a week later, a quart on the other side. After that i started my recovery again. This was all done as an outpatient at our local hospital and wasn't all that bad. prayers for Lee from FL
Sure have been thinking of you, Lee and also Colleen & family. Bummer that there is a setback, but know this oppressive heat can do a number on everyone. Our thoughts, special prayers & love are with you.
Hugs, Marilyn & Fred
Hope everything goes well for you. Hang in there its not easy. Hope mom feels better soon and is able to go home. This recovery is tough not like i thought it was going to be. Be strong and keep up the good work
Hi Aunt Lee, Didn't send you anything last week. On vacation working the Golf Tournament (Firestone). Boy was Tiger down. Played Bad. This is the first time I wasn't working in the group in front of him. The crowd didn't show up. I walked with Jim Furky all week. To bad Sunday the way he was hitting the ball he could have posted a score and made the others work. But on 16 he hit the flag stick and then the ball went in the water. You could see his face if took everything out of him,Padraig Harrington was with Jim on Sunday. His wife is real nice. Friday I worked 36 holes. First with Jim and Luke Donald and then went back out and Walked with Steve Stricker and Ernie Els. Have to get back to work will try to call you on you phone.
Hi Lee, I can't believe how quickly they released you from the hospital.John and I are happy you are recovering so quickly. When do you expect to leave the rehab. home? Don't bother to answer. You have so many messages - that's because you are a great girl and people care very much about you. We think of you often. Patricia
I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well after your surgery. Dr. Bavaria was my surgeon, was he also yours?
Isn't it great to have the surgery over with and move on to recovery? The weeks will fly by as you recover. I am 12 weeks post surgery and find it hard to believe that my surgery was in May. Best wishes as you recover.
Hi Lee, bridge was so fun, Hope we didn"t tire you out.I hope we can play bridge again before you leave. If anyone has a laptop they could bring when they visit , Care One has WiFi connection. Then Lee could read her blogs and e-mails. I will bring my laptop over Wed afternoo. Laura Del Rossi
Glad to hear you are out and that rehab seems to be helping you to recover. Slow but steady seems to win this race! It sounds like you are in good hands. Colleen did a wonderful job keeping us up to date.
Keep on your positive road! Remember Fran and I are the champions of the spirometer - keep puffin'.
Wow, that's a lot of therapy, no wonder you get tired!! Hope you rest when you can, in between visitors. Sounds like you're doing well. Like you, I had little pain although I have always had a high tolerance for pain. Keep doing well. Greetings from FL.
Hi Lee. You are one popular woman. Your daughter did a great job of keeping us updated as well as being there for you. It's good to know you've taken another step on the road to recovery. We're on it together & before long, we'll be good as new. Best wishes, Joy Vera
That's great about rehab. I did talk to Mom this past week - we were away with grandkids.
Can she get calls at rehab -have visitors?
Do you have phone number? I will pass on to
club members. And hope to down next week to
see her too.
Thanks for updates =very important.
Hi Lee & Colleen. I'm still experiencing weakness as well (I'd call it low energy, but I'm sure it feels exactly the same). We just need to keep on keeping on - walk, spirometer, resting when needed. I hope tomorrow is a good day for you. Take care, Joy Vera
