Hi Laura, welcome to the group. I had my mitral valve repaired a year ago. I was also 54 at the time. Being younger definitely helps with recovery. Listen to your surgeon-he knows what’s best. Actually, I think a shorter waiting time is better than longer. To quote Tom Petty—The waiting is the hardest part. Modern medicine is miraculous. You’ll be fine.
